Bulgaria is a beautiful mountainous country, small in size but rich in ancient culture, scenic splendour, friendly people and old-fashioned warmth and hospitality.

The Villa is situated in the south east of Europe on the Balkan Peninsula, Bulgaria is not as much a tourist destination as its Greek and Turkish neighbours to the south are. This despite the popularity of its Black Sea resorts, which are scenically captivating with their fine sandy beaches, sunny climate and safe seas and wonderfully inexpensive too!

   

Bulgaria is full of surprises and has a wonderful history. You can journey to Sofia (the capital city) through the mountains by coach or visit a spa and test the wonderful healing waters! Spend a day at the colourful resort of Golden Sands to get a taste of this popular tourist centre. Have a wonderful evening meal at the beach restaurants in Balchik or Kavarna, or drive along the coast north of Varna even as far as the Romanian border! A visit to the old town in Dobrich to watch craftsmen making and selling their wares is a must. Spend a day shopping in Varna for cheap leather and suede goods…. or just sunbathe on the terrace by the Villa pool.

   
In Balgarevo itself you can take a stroll around the village where there are a few shops, markets, pharmacy and wildlife information centre (bicycles can be hired from here) and in the village square next to the fountain is a typical Bulgarian restaurant.
